Domination Campaign, which we can mention as a Psycroptic spin off, says hello with their second album. Haley brothers are the two remaining founding members of Psycroptic. While David plays drums, Joe plays guitar. However, guitarist Joe leaves his guitar in Domination Campaign and switches to drums this time. Psycroptic vocalist Jason Peppiatt is responsible for vocals and guitars.
As you know, Psycroptic performs technical death metal. Regardless of what style of music you make, the most important thing is being able to compose good music eventually. But for bands that play technical death metal, as the name suggests, instrument mastery is of great importance. Followers of this genre wish to listen to something that is difficult to perform and challenge musicians in terms of performance in addition to good compositions. If I were a musician who spent years doing this kind of stuff, I would surely get tired after a certain amount of time and want to play something focused on composition rather than technical performance. I think Jason and Joe thought likewise while founding this band.
Domination Campaign’s music has a more traditional death metal structure compared to Psycroptic. As can be understood from the song titles, the songs are about war, a concept preferred by many death metal bands. In this regard, names such as Memoriam and Bolt Thrower are the first ones that come to mind. Jason’s vocals are very close to the vocals he did in Psycroptic.
In general, they perform death metal that is fun to listen to and makes you feel the need to use your neck muscles as soon as you start listening. I don’t think there will be a death metal listener who wouldn’t be excited by listening to Pit of Disease.
The album, which is one of the first releases of the year, manages to please its listeners overall.
